What is a Universal Housing?

Is there a Universal Housing which can work with all brands cores? The answer is: it depends. If you are using Full Size Interchangeable Cores, it doesn’t exist. FSIC cores are brand-specific. There is no housing which can universally accept all brands of Full Size Interchangeable Cores (FSIC). However, you may use a Small Format Interchangeable Core (SFIC), which is the exact same size and shape for any lock manufacturer.
